    2012 Audi ABT AS1 Sportback

July 19, 2012. s the 5-door “Sportback” the Audi A1 represents the perfect entry for everyone who often carries passengers. Its look and feel and powerful engines are really “upper class”. ABT Power transforms the compact car into an AS1 and makes it strong enough to easily cope with the weight of additional passengers.

With a little help from ABT, the turbo petrol engine 1.4 TFSI (production version:
185 hp / 136 kW), has up to 210 hp (154 kW) making the AS1 Sportback a real motorway shocker, coming close to the 240km/h limit and getting from naught to 100 in 6.6 seconds. The smaller version has 160 hp or 118 kW (standard version: 122 hp / 90 kW). Even the 1.2l basic TFSI is very “relaxed”. After all, the globally largest tuner of vehicles of the Volkswagen Group turns 86 hp (63 kW) into torquey 110 hp (81 kW). However, Audi and ABT Sportsline have always also featured really powerful diesel engines. ABT Power makes the 1.6 TDI have 125 hp (91 kW), while the production version has 105 hp (77 kW). The “ABTed” 2.0 top diesel (production version 143 hp / 105 kW) offers 170 hp (125 kW).

Upon request, this compact and powerful car is available in three cool designs. “There is the chilly ALOHA in its Hawaii look, the charming and funny KLECKS or the waspish HIGH-VOLTAGE with its martial Skulls“, CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt explains. The both fresh and original looks are much more than just a wrap. After all, for every set ABT also has tone-in-tone front lips, side skirts, wing inserts, rear skirt inserts and a spoiler – in brushed aluminium or grass-green or lavender

To make the ABT AS1 Sportback sound as it should, the Bavaria-based company has installed a 2-pipe-exhaust system. But what makes the car really complete are the corresponding alloy rims. The 18-inch DR wheels or the 17 or 18-inch Z Titan are perfect. If you see such a complete car, you know why the compact ABT AS1 Sportback should not be called a “small” car.
